Minor League Pickleball (MiLP) May 19th & 29th

KBPA Members learning the MiLP game rules/format of play on May 19th at Mazama

May 19th & 29th

Exciting News for KBPA Members!

KBPA is now organizing MiLP: Minor League Pickleball play here in the Klamath Basin for its members for summer 2024. We are excited to offer our members this new amazing opportunity for your growth and development as a player. The league uses a novel gameplay format that brings two men and two women together to form a team that is matched with similar teams at the same skill level. Each week you will have a Match which consists of four games—women’s doubles, men’s double, then two mixed-doubles games.

The league will officially start on June 15 and run for six weeks until July 27. You will play one Match each week using the SWISH app to organize play and your aggregate DUPR to determine your team’s skill level/division. The schedule for play each week is quite flexible—teams will be able to determine their day/time for play at a venue suitable for everyone. Subs or alternates are possible as long as their DUPR rating does not take the team over their aggregate for that skill division. Ultimately, the top teams will play a bracket playoff to determine who wins the gold, silver, and bronze positions. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Skill Divisions: 12 – 14 – 16 – 18 – 20. ALL determined by players’ DUPR ratings.

A 12 Division consists of 2 men and 2 women whose combined/aggregate DUPR rating is 12.30 or less. NO 4.1 or above.

14 Division has an aggregate rating of 14.30 or less.

16 Division has an aggregate rating of 16.30 or less.

18 Division has an aggregate rating of 18.30 or less.

20 Division has an aggregate rating of 20.30 or less.

Example: player A= 3.70, player B =3.33, player C= 4.10, player D= 3.56, so the team has an aggregate rating of 14.69, so this team would have to play in the 16 Division.

Because the rally scoring and format for the league is quite unique (see: https://www.dupr.com/minorleague/rules), we are holding Practice/Learning Days before organized play begins. So, it’s time to form your teams now and mark your calendars. Trial runs of the league play/format will be held:

Sunday, May 19 in the afternoon at Mazama

Or        Wednesday, May 29 in the evening at Mazama
